Infectious Disease Control

Saving Lives

When safety and disease control matters in hospitals and medical facilities for doctors, nurses, patients and visitors, firestop and smoke seal insulation installed by members of the Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers (HFIAW) helps control infectious diseases by preventing the spread of infectious particles. Infectious Disease control is one of the many areas where the HFIAW leads the insulation industry in providing highly skilled and highly trained professionals to perform life saving work.

Our members are at the forefront of an increased focus on the importance of properly installing materials that save lives and work to prevent the spread of infectious disease materials.

Through advancements in both material technology, as well as innovative methods of installing and maintaining these materials, infectious disease control is on the verge of becoming one of the main ways of controlling and mitigating the spread of disease in all types of medical facilities.

The Importance of Infectious Disease Control

The main purpose of infectious disease control is to inhibit the spread of disease through proper containment.

Containment is an intricate process that requires the careful filling of any holes, penetrations, gaps, or spaces that could be a potential path for the spread of disease or other airborne contaminants.

Infectious disease control systems are part of the very structure of the buildings in which they are used. After they are installed, infectious disease control materials are always present in the building and do not rely on any type of mechanical device to properly perform their function.
